The Coleridge-Taylor Legacy
Donation protected
On January 2–4, 2025, I will make the world premiere recording of Avril Coleridge-Taylor's Piano Concerto in F minor with the BBC Philharmonic and conductor John Andrews at MediaCity UK, England. Resonus Classics will release the album in fall 2025, coinciding with Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's 150th birthday.
Your contribution will help cover the remaining hire costs for the venue, engineer, and piano tuning.
Something incredible that I learned when working on this project is that Avril Coleridge-Taylor dedicated the final movement of this piano concerto to her father, the famous Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, who died far too young. This is an incredible detail considering that Avril conducted this work in apartheid South Africa during the 1950s. With this third movement, she let it be known that she was proud of her father's legacy and her African heritage.
As a Black British woman, this project is very close to my heart. This music is a part of my history and I am honoured uphold the Coleridge-Taylor legacy through this monumental recording.
Thank you for your support.
