The Connie Hooey Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Erika and I'm fundraising to remember Connie Hooey. Connie was a great ambassador for our little town of Orono Ontario. She kept an eye out for newcomers and greeted them with a cake and "Welcome to Orono". Connie helped anyone and everyone she could. She was active in many aspects of life here and could be counted on to help anywhere, anytime. If first responders came to Orono Connie would provide coffee and donuts and moral support.
Connie belonged to the Heather Rebekah Lodge in Orono and was active throughout the Oddfellow & Rebekah order. Each year she donated a trophy in memory of her late husband Bill Hooey to the Orono Fair Junior Beef Farmers to encourage young people to develop their showmanship. Continuing this with Connie's name added to Bill's is one of the options we are considering in our memorial plans.
Connie took me under her wing and introduced me to the many things Orono had to offer. Through her influence I joined several groups in town, including the Rebekah's and fundraising committees. Connie brought out the best in people by showing her generosity and love for the town and its people. Always foremost in her mind was things she could do to promote and help Orono. She will be remembered for her honesty, compassion, support and dedication to her family, friends and Orono. She will be missed.
Posters will be placed in Orono and on-line listing memorial options.
