The Rob Conover Fund

Hi, My name is John Patrick Nord, and I am fundraising for a family near and dear to me. The last few years have been hard enough with the pandemic. As for myself, things are as close to back to normal as can be, I'm back to work and the daily grind. However, there is one thing missing, one thing not quite as it was before. One person in particular I love, who has not survived unscathed. Even before the shut downs and work closures, his health took a turn for the worse. And over the last few years, he has had an avalanche of health issues that, through all of this, persist and have made his life increasingly difficult.

His name is Robert Conover, and he has been my life partner for almost 30 years. Almost 5 years ago, Rob found himself in the Emergency Room with skyrocketing high blood pressure, was subsequently intubated and in coma for almost two weeks. Since that time he has had one health issue after another, including a hip replacement, COPD, kidney failure and heart failure, but has done his best to address each issue as it came up. As we all know, dealing with one medical problem is hard enough. Juggling multiple health issues has become a life-changing burden.

On October 13th of this year, Rob suffered a heart attack. He flatlined and was administered chest compressions for nearly 20 minutes and still hurts from cracked ribs. To say it is a miracle he is still with us, let alone back to his living breathing self, is an understatement.

However, his full recovery from this is going to be a long, hard road. Rob has relied upon Medicaid to cover most of the costs of his hospitalization, but transportation to follow up doctor visits and essential 24 hour at-home-care has resulted in significant out of pocket costs for the family.

His parents, Joe and Janet, have done heroes work doing their best to take care of their son in every way they know how. I know they have already dug deep into their savings taking care of him.
