The Cornish March For March- Clare Downe's Cancer treatment
Donation protected
Hi everyone, hope you’re doing well. I'm reaching out to ask for support for this GoFundMe.
This cause is important and whether you can donate or simply share the fundraiser, every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. Here's the link and this is for my go fund me page -
“Darren Cornish March for March, 2 night 3 day charity challenge” - in aid of Clare Downes cancer treatment in Germany.
Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing well. This is a huge shout out, to ask for your support in helping me raise money to get Clare to Germany in order to continue getting her much needed and ongoing treatment for her Cancer, (dendritic cell therapy), which has proven to have been a success up until now, although Clare has had a lot of good and not so good days, she is a true fighter, in every sense and meaning of the word. So far people have done all kinds of things to help raise money for Clare’s cause and a grand total of £22,774 has been received via Clare’s go fund me page which you can click on the link above to view as well as donate.
My challenge came to mind one day out of the blue and I thought, I’m going to make it my mission to make it happen and contribute as much as I can towards her cause. People who know me well, know that I’ve been struggling with my mental health for many years. Living with PTSD and depression has meant that solitude and loneliness have been a daily struggle for me and this challenge I felt would not only enable me to not only help Clare’s cause, but help mine as well.
What is this challenge you may ask? Preparation is well under way behind the scenes and this will mean a lot of hard work sorting out equipment, food, shelter and safety. A rough route, Sponsorship, Media coverage and live news feed for my Cornish March for March, 2 night 3 day Cornish camp in Cornwall!
We shall all meet on Saturday 1st March at The New Kilkhampton, where I shall be heading off at 1pm, with my Rucksack full of essentials and an apple-air-tag to keep track of me and keep me safe, only to return on Monday 3rd March 2025 back safe and sound at The New Inn Kilkhampton.
My first night I hope to spend in Woodford, Morwenstow and thereafter I’ll just let fate be my guide. I’ll update my status and whereabouts on social media and hope to have a live media link as well . All my clothes and supplies I shall have with me and carrying in my trusty backpack displaying my quest, as well as flying the Cornish flag and be well visible, with fluorescent tape around it so that I shall be well seen.
I shall have support from my local Methodists churches, fire stations or pubs and private accommodation, supplied by friends. This will ensure a good nights sleep, so that I can be on the road by around 8am each day.
I then plan on venturing on, trying to get as many Cornish towns and villages in my 3 days that I can, only to start my return journey back home to Kilkhampton. A lot of these locations will have a personal connection and meaning to me.
There will be many organisations involved, of which I shall plug on here as and when they are confirmed. Some will involve sponsorship and others help with equipment, emergency shelter, facilities to shower, wash my clothes and hooking me up with Tv, Radio and newspapers etc.
There will be more posts on here when things materialise and probably lots of thank yous to those who have made this all possible for me to embark on this challenge and keep me going for the duration. If anyone would like to join me for a night sleeping under the Cornish stars, then please PM me, alternatively you can join me on route and walk a section of it with me. I shall of course update everyone via social media and a live link of my whereabouts daily, so that you know where about I am at any given time and date.
I won’t be carrying any cash for obvious reasons, but any donations via mine or Clare’s Go fund Me page very much appreciated.
Clare has been a close friend to my family for over 20 years and we have had so many good times together. She’s is such a lovely person and a caring soul, what better way to say Clare, I think you’re amazing, keep up the fight, we are all with you every step of the way!
