The Daiglen Preparatory School Jubilee Walk

The children at Daiglen School are walking to raise money for the Sepsis Trust and All As One.  As part of our Jubilee celebrations on Friday 27th May the children and staff will collectively attempt to complete a distance of 70 miles in our Jubilee sponsored walk.   Please help us to support these two worthy causes by sponsoring the children for their efforts!

All As One saves the lives of orphaned and abandoned children in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  In a nation where thousands of children are left to survive on their own, All As One is a vibrant Children's Centre that feeds, educates and cares for about 200 children every day.  Here at Daiglen we have had a link with All as One for many years now, with Ettaline Hill, one of the directors of the charity having been a regular visitor and friend of the school, helping our children understand how important their support is to children in need in Sierra Leone.

The UK Sepsis Trust work to raise awareness of the dangers, signs and symptoms of this lethal condition.  Sepsis (also known as blood poisoning) is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection or injury.  Normally our immune system fights infection – but sometimes, for reasons we don’t yet understand, it attacks our body’s own organs and tissues.  If not treated immediately, sepsis can result in organ failure and death.  Yet with early diagnosis, it can be treated with antibiotics.

5 people die with sepsis every hour in the UK.  By helping us to reach more people with the signs of sepsis, we can work towards ending preventable deaths from this condition.  After all, there is power in numbers.
