The Dan Lee Mil Race 2023
Donation protected
On Sunday 26th March Firefighters, colleagues, and veterans from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service will pay tribute to Watch Manager Dan Lee by taking part in the first-ever Dan Lee Mil Race.
Dan, who was a Watch Manager based at Agecroft Fire Station on Green Watch, served the communities of Greater Manchester for 16 years and was a much-loved member of the GMFRS family, tragically died last year.
The Dan Lee Mil Race is a challenging 9-mile endurance race based on military test events. The event aims to raise as many donations as possible to support Dan’s family.
There is a minimum £5 entry fee for competitors and there will be 2 race categories: The Dan Lee Mil Yomp (complete the route in boots and carrying a 35lb pack), or the Dan Lee Mil Run (same route without bergen and boots).
The route, in Saddleworth, takes in open moorland scenery, industrial heritage, and Pennine farmland. It is mainly on flagged paths, tracks, and trails with some challenging, undulating terrain.
The event will be run with the same core efficiency, ethos, spirit, and heritage of the Royal Marines, of which Dan served. All donations raised will go to Dan’s family.
What contributions you can make, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated and will help support what is certain to be an excellent day.
