The Day the Music Died: In Memory of John Landon

SERVICES FOR JOHN LANDON

My name is Lidia Landon Michael. On April 26, 2022, my precious brother, John Anthony Landon, had a heart attack. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the company of his wife, Mary, and his daughter Aubrey.

John (Johno, as he was known to his family) was a resident of the Antelope Valley for nearly all his life, having moved here at six years old. Throughout the decades, his love for music, in particular good ole’ Rock and Roll, connected John to so many in our community. We will all feel the loss of such a talented musician.

Friends and family have asked what they can do to support John’s family. His grieving wife and daughter will undoubtedly appreciate a donation of any amount towards the cost of his funeral/memorial expenses.

Memorial mass will be held Wednesday May 18th, 2022 at 12 noon.
Address: Sacred Heart Church, 565 W Kettering, Lancaster Ca 93534

A reception will immediately follow at the home of John’s sister, Lidia. At the reception, Friends will be welcome to share words in tribute to John, if they would like to do so. Reception address will be given out at the mass. If you will not be able to be at the Church service, but would like to attend the reception, please leave a comment below and we will message you the address.

Additionally, a special MEMORIAL JAM will be held on Sunday, May 22 beginning at 4:00 P.M. at Mossman’s Steak House 46643 60th St W, Lancaster. We hope all of John’s band friends will come on out to celebrate his love of Rock N Roll!  All musicians are welcome to join us. Please bring your instruments and your memories. It doesn’t need to be songs that he played, just come, and celebrate music, as John will be most remembered for his love of music. If you have questions, or want to coordinate something specific, please message his daughter Sunny Landon (Aubrey), or leave a comment below and she will contact you. At the JAM, donations will be accepted in support of MUSIC AND KIDS, A Nonprofit Corporation which provides one-on-one music education to students in Palmdale through “Gabriel’s House” (musicandkids.org/partners)
