The Debbi K. Miller HACC Nursing Scholarship Fund

On March 25, 2022, Deborah K. Miller suddenly and unexpectedly passed away due to complications from recently found pancreatic cancer. She had worked in the medical field as a RN for over three decades, spanning from children’s medicine all the way to geriatrics through her career. That journey first started coming to fruition at the HACC Nursing School, while having to go through the struggles of being a single mother to a young, energetic boy. Having to work, attend school, and raise a child on her own was obviously quite the undertaking, which she emerged incredibly successful on the other end.

In her memory, her husband, Daniel, and her three sons, Christoper, Peter, and Philip, in collaboration with HACC Nursing School, have set up a scholarship fund in her name to present to a student each year to assist someone who might be going through a similar hardship to help make the process of attaining their goals a little easier. Debbi was constantly helping strangers in any way she could, from making pillow cases for deployed military personal to dropping off Easter baskets for ER staff at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Us as a family agreed this was the best way for her abundance of kindness to live on after she has passed.

As a family, we have donated the required amount to get the fund started. We are now accepting donations to proceed to grow as to help as much as we can for someone who could use the help. Every little bit helps and we thank you in advance in helping us keep the memory of our mother, his husband, and countless other people’s friend, alive and well for many years to come
