Over a year and a half ago, Mark and Suzy DeTar got the news no parent wants to hear: their two year old son Adam had leukemia. What followed was easy to imagine: countless doctor visits, hospitalizations, worry, and the shattered hearts. Through it all, they also had the task of raising their other 12 children.

Through much time and intervention, his leukemia went into remission! They were given a celebratory Make A Wish trip and they looked forward to a bright future ahead. As they packed for Disney World, they received stunning news: Adam’s leukemia had returned.

The stakes are very high and require a staggering amount of medical intervention. His family keeps a nearly round the clock vigil when he’s in the hospital, as he is right now. Recently, a significant curve ball has brought Adam to the brink of survival but thanks to God and his doctors he pulled through. It was a surprise to all.
