Hi friends and family, we are asking for your help!

Last Saturday (10/22), Derrick Anthony Dunbar suffered the sudden rupture of a large aneurysm in his brain, no one was previously aware of, resulting in a severe brain bleed. He is currently in a coma and there is no telling how many months to years the road to a full recovery will be. With Derrick as the main breadwinner, his wife, Kristi, daughter, Stephanie, and son, Kieran, fear the enormous incoming influx of medical bills, and the unforgiving demands of ongoing mortgage bills, loan, tuition, and car payments, as well as necessary amenities like heat, water, and electricity.

Luckily, this horrifying event occurred while Derrick was home with family around 11:15 am Saturday. Stephanie said that she cannot stress enough about how normal of a morning it was: “it came on without a whisper of a warning.” Thankfully, Stephanie called 911 right away, and Kristi attempted to aid him until help arrived. After being rushed by ambulance to the first hospital, Derrick was airlifted that afternoon to a more specialized hospital where he was admitted into the neuro-ICU. Derrick is currently in a non-induced coma under close supervision, receiving around the clock care. He will continue to be under close observation for the next 3 to 7 weeks minimum according to the Doctors. Kieran said: “Even once my dad is out of the ICU, there is a very long, winding, bumpy road through recovery and rehabilitation before he can come home.”Derrick has received numerous procedures, operations, and has had imaging done to keep him alive. The Dunbar’s are so grateful the incredible work that has been done is working so far; but with these blessings always comes a price.
