The Duncan Family needs our help!

Hi, my name is Barbara. I am a special education teacher in Gwinnett County, GA. My friend and dear colleague, Dena Duncan, needs our help!

She too is a special education teacher & her husband is a high school teacher. Earlier this school year, Dena found herself out on (unpaid) leave after exhausting her sick leave because she required 2 knee surgeries. Then, only a short time ago (while she was still on leave working hard in physical therapy to regain her own mobility) a mass was discovered in the brain of her 18-year-old (high school senior) son.

Her son Paul has been a star student, a sax player in the high school band, and an outstanding athlete who has been both a soccer player and kicker on his high school football team. He has worked so hard to achieve his goals- and just as his work has really been paying off (receiving offer after offer for both academic and football scholarships to several colleges where he planned to pursue an engineering degree) he began having seizure after seizure. So on Monday, January 16th, Paul underwent brain surgery to remove the mass from his brain--and he has had to put all of his own life's plans on hold...

Throughout this journey of medical needs, all Dena has asked for is prayer. The power of prayer is something that she profoundly hangs on to as she walks this path with her loved ones.

As though the toll it takes on a mother to watch her child endure all of this isn't enough--recently, it has become evident that medical expenses and the loss of her own income is taking a toll on her and her family as well!

Paul still has such a long road to walk toward healing. He is so young and this is all so hard!

So I ask that you PLEASE consider helping as much as you can!

In light of the fact that both Dena and her husband are teachers...PLEASE help us to "repay" all that this family has contributed to their community in service to our collective children!

No family has ever been more hesitant to ask for help and no family has ever been more appreciative of your continued prayers, love and support....so today, it is I who asks...
