The Dziama Family

Donation protected

As many of you know, on Friday, June 16th, Justin and Laura's beautiful almost 6-year-old son, Jaeger Dziama, was involved in a devastating accident in Wellesley, MA involving a neighbor's ride-on lawnmower that resulted in a med-flight to Boston's Children's Hospital where he has remained under intensive care.

In the days since, Jaeger has undergone numerous surgeries on his right leg to clean his extensive wounds, repair fractures and prevent infection. His excellent team of doctors is now focused on a series of intensive reconstruction and grafting surgeries over the coming weeks. They are hopeful but the road ahead will be long and extremely challenging. He is looking at many lengthy hospitalizations and different types of therapy to hopefully regain function in his affected leg. Not to mention the mental health support he and his family will surely need after going through such horrific trauma.

Thankfully, Jaeger is as tough as it gets. Justin and Laura report he is on several antibiotics to prevent infection, his pain is well controlled and he's resting between surgeries. Justin has been by his side night + day since he was admitted and Laura has made daily hospital visits to and from home with newborn baby sister Aurelia in tow. Older brother Jayce (who has been in the care of family and friends) has had the chance to Facetime his little brother frequently between operations which always helps uplift his spirits.

The support from the community thus far has been incredible. This fundraiser was born from the sheer number of people asking how they could help the Dziamas and will be the best way to get updates moving forward.

With a newborn baby girl and older brother at home, the logistics of trying to juggle hospital visits, childcare, medical costs, lost work time, meals, sleep and every day-household chores are nearly impossible. Yet, Justin + Laura have been navigating it all with grace and determination.

If it were up to them, they wouldn't ask for anything or burden anyone. It took some repeated, gentle nudging by extended family to convince them to accept what others are so eager to give. Every donation will help them get back on their feet and focus on healing their family while making sure their handsome, brave boy has all of the support he needs.

**Please note we are transitioning to this page for medical updates as the family already has enough on their plate**

A note from Laura and Justin:

"We are so grateful for the amazing outpouring of support that we’ve received from family, friends and the absolutely wonderful communities who have embraced our family. We appreciate all of the thoughtfulness and feel the constant love you are sending our way. Jaeger continues to amaze us with his positivity and bravery throughout his extremely difficult and painful journey to healing and recovery."
