The Elon Ramp Project
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michelle Megurdichian and I'd like to begin by saying thank you for taking the time to read this and for your consideration in donating! I am a physical therapy student at Elon University who had an idea to help out our community here in the Elon/Burlington area by building ramps for those who need them at their homes. When someone gets discharged from the hospital, insurance doesn't cover the cost of a ramp- which can be quite pricy. Someone who is a wheelchair user will need a ramp to have safe access into and out of their home.
That being said, I put together this ramp building organization to act as a resource to those in our community who are in need of a ramp at their home, but otherwise could not afford one. We have a community member, Alvaro, who has a spinal cord injury and is in need of a new ramp at his home. He currently has a ramp that is too steep for him to get up and down on his own, and he relies on his wife and daughter to get him into and out of the house. When his wife and daughter are not home he doesn't have safe access into and out of his own home.
The funds will go directly towards the cost of lumbar/materials for the ramp. All labor for this project is 100% volunteer by PT students and local contractors who are donating their time/skills to make this build happen.
Thank you again for your consideration in donating!
