Chris Erickson's Road to Recovery

My name is Shannon Smith, and I work with Chris, along with Mike Rhyasen, at Proofpoint. Mike and I have offered to host this GoFundMe on behalf of the Erickson family to help ease some of the financial burdens during Chris' Recovery. All donations will go directly to the family for Chris' medical expenses, ongoing care and familial expenses related to travel to/from the hospital. Below is a note from Christian Erickson:

On Sunday, October 30th, Dad suffered a massive heart attack while at our home in St. Charles. Fortunately, Mom and Katherine were present to intervene and get him into care at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva. After determining resources at Delnor might not be sufficient, Dad was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago where he currently fights for his life, supported by an ECMO machine and other life support. There were moments in the first 48 hours when the doctors and our family did not know if he would make it; luckily, Dad has shown signs of improvement since those first 48 hours. The incredible team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital has progressively decreased the support of ECMO, and Dad is showing signs of strength and self-sufficiency.

We have lived every day since Sunday moment to moment, and are uncertain of what the next few weeks will hold and what Dad’s Cardiology Team will recommend for next steps. We hope and pray for the moment that all 5 of us walk into our home together.
