The Essenelle Foundation

Donation protected

The Essenelle Foundation (TEF) is a Mental Health Charity focused on empowering and developing the Sickle Cell community.

Made up of 3 pillars:

-          Provide people who have Sickle Cell Disease and their families access to traditional therapies, counselling and emotional wellbeing courses.

-          We will work with schools, councils and hospitals to educate on the policies that will encourage better practices and support for the community

-          Run events and campaign to educate and raise money so we can help everyone impacted by SCD get the help they need.

Why is TEF needed?

Currently, there is NO organisation that provides active mental support to sufferers of Sickle Cell and their families.

The NHS as we know it, is already stretched and cannot guarantee the community dedicated support.

Not enough people are educated about Sickle Cell which results in the inability to help those who suffer with it in environments such as school or even the workplace.

There are not enough sufficient platforms for people who are affected to connect with others, express their feelings and relate to

It is crucial that TEF’s services are provided especially during the pandemic, with many shielding and social distancing, which can cause massive bouts of loneliness and anxiety.

TEF’s aim is to strengthen a community, elevate relationships and positively impact physical and mental health and recovery.

Sickle Cell Disease is a complex, genetic blood disorder that is inherited from both parents.
Many with Sickle Cell are managing acute painful episodes due to restricted blood flow which can become severe and life-threatening.

It is estimated that there are 15,000 people with Sickle Cell in the UK.
Most people affected are of African or African-Caribbean origin.

The plan so far …

On Mental Health Awareness Week (10 May – 16 May 2021), we will be hosting a week-long virtual event providing educational content, live holistic yoga activities, to celebrate the official launch of TEF.

Our main aim that week is to spread as much awareness as possible, so we are reaching out to as many people with influence in the UK, especially those in the Black community, to raise money to provide the much-needed services to those who need our help. Our goal is to raise £100,000.

Where will the money go?

Donations will allow us to:
Provide access to traditional counselling services and other emotional wellbeing services.

Educate institutions, schools, workplaces on Sickle Cell and helping them develop policies and practices that help ease stressors for people who have Sickle Cell disease.

Hold events and campaigns that allow us to raise awareness, remove social stigmas and connect the community

How can you help?

#StandWithUs
TEF would really appreciate any support or donations contributed to this non-profit organisation.

Though, it is not all about money.
Standing with us and championing the charity and its work is just as powerful!

We are asking those with significant social followings to help spread awareness of TEF and help us increase the number of donations.
