On April 19, 2023, my uncle Paul was taken to the hospital after showing signs of a stroke or heart attack. This was the same day his mother-in-law (Maw-Maw Meg) suffered a TIA and had Hospice come to check on her. Uncle Paul ended up having two strokes and was hospitalized for ten days before being admitted to a rehabilitation center. It was discovered that he has a hole in his heart, so he'll need surgery to close it, therefore, it's still undetermined when he'll be coming home.
His doctors say recovery will be at least 12-18 months, so as a school bus driver, Uncle Paul will be out of work. Additionally, Uncle Paul was the primary caretaker for Maw-Maw Meg, who is home-bound, presenting more challenges for the family.
A lot has happened to their family recently. Maw-Maw Meg was sent to a nursing home while Uncle Paul was hospitalized. On a much happier and blessed note, my cousin Eddie welcomed his daughter, Alice, on April 22, 2023, and my cousin Rachel is also expecting her baby boy, Ezra, to be born in June. Uncle Paul and Aunt Lisa are so excited to be grandparents!
So as you can see, my family is going through a lot of changes and there are a lot of unknowns. Uncle Paul, Aunt Lisa, Eddie, Rachel, and Reagan are extremely special to me, and my trips to Alabama were the best because of them. Rachel is like a little sister to me, and I want to do all that I can to help her and her family. Therefore, I'm asking for funds to help with medical bills and to provide for the family while Uncle Paul is out of work. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and share it!
