The Family of Bradley Middleton

Our hearts are aching at the sudden and tragic loss of our dear friend and colleague, Brad Middleton, MD. A devoted husband and father, beloved son, cherished friend, and physician on the cusp of a brand new and promising career.

Brad’s caring heart will be remembered by all who knew him, and we know his spirit will live on in his wife, his children, his friends and co-workers, the many students and residents he has trained and without a doubt, in the many patients who he has healed and numerous lives he has saved.

His presence was calming, his quiet fortitude bolstering to those around him. He never complained, and treated everyone around him with decency and respect, even in the most challenging moments. Brad was a part of our Upstate family for 7 years, from his first day of medical school until completion of his residency and we were lucky to have him that long. We had hoped to keep him longer, first as an Ultrasound fellow and then as faculty; someone we all would have been proud and honored to work alongside on the most difficult shifts, the most difficult days.

We are comforted that Brad’s final moments were in a place he loved to be, a place filled with love for him, and surrounded by so many people who loved him.

Brad’s darling wife Liz and their small children will need our support now more than ever. He was the father of two beautiful girls, with a son due to be born soon.
