The family of Eric Romero
Donation protected
My name is Ariela and I’m starting this gofundme to help my sister (Xavia) and her kids (Tazia, Mikayla, & Derek) get through this tragedy. They literally lost the heart, soul, and backbone of their family.
On Monday, February 19, 2024, Eric Romero had an accident and was taken too soon from his family.
Eric attended and graduated Las Cruces High School in 1994, where he was a standout athlete earning the honors of being an undefeated State Champion Wrestler, MVP in baseball, and Pepsi Athlete of the year. That same year, he welcomed his first child, Tazia, on March 18th and later married his high school sweetheart, Xavia Romero, on October 8th.
Eric was an avid enthusiast of any type of sporting competition. He excelled at anything and everything he did. He loved watching the Tour De France and cheering on his 49ers. He loved to golf with his kids, play at the casino, go camping, and most of all hunt. Eric said his favorite moments were always up in the mountains. When Eric’s son, Derek, turned 3 years old, he started up a baseball team to coach him which he named “The Redcaps” in honor of his childhood team. Before long, this became a baseball club with 3 different age divisions because he loved to coach and mentor kids. For the past 26 years, he has also remained a part of the wrestling community. He currently was a part of the NM Junior Wrestling Association where he served as a Head Referee, Mentor and Assigner. In addition, he was so happy and proud to be able guide and teach his daughter, Mikayla, how to officiate.
Eric was also a silent donor to Tunnel 2 Towers, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and St Jude’s Childrens Hospital. There were no boundaries to his generosity and assistance. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him knew that regardless of any situation, they could count on him.
He was the best husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, Nino & friend that anyone could ever ask for. He made a huge impact on the community and on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Please don’t feel obligated to donate, if you’d like to just leave your condolences here please do. No amount of anything will bring him back. Donations are appreciated but not necessary.
