The Family of Jason Popovich

Donation protected
After a courageous battle against cancer, Jason “Poppy” Popovich, passed away on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, with his family by his side at the Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital. Jason will remain forever in our hearts as a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

“Poppy” was a proud Toronto firefighter who was assigned to a busy fire truck in the downtown core, Pumper 314 B, when he started his career in 2005. He spent 17 years at Station 314 which became his second home. Jason created memories, bonds and friendships that will be cherished by his fire family fortunate enough to work alongside him. In 2021, he selflessly transferred to A312 B to give up his spot at 314 for a friend. In 2022, he was designated as an Acting Captain to A325 B and later returned to 31 District by transferring to A315 B. Jason’s passion for the Fire Service was only matched by his love for hockey. When he was off the ice, he attended fundraising events and other social gatherings to support his peers.

If Jason wasn’t working at the fire hall, he was busy running his family business, Firehouse Clothing, with his loving wife Jenn and brother Dave. Their brand is worn by many firefighters, police officers, paramedics and sport teams across the country. If you were at a charity event over the years, you have probably seen a donation from Firehouse Clothing by Jenn and Jason.

When Jason was diagnosed in August, many sacrifices and difficult decisions were required to see Jason through his countless cancer treatments, doctors’ appointments, and therapies. The couple made the difficult decision to put their Firehouse Clothing on hold so Jenn could be by Jason’s side throughout his remaining months. They had to deal with a loss of income, exorbitant medical expenses and countless other unexpected costs related to the illness and loss of a loved one.

In lieu of flowers, we’re asking that support, in donations, be made to the family to help alleviate their financial hardships during these difficult times. We know Poppy would be forever grateful.

Thank you so much for your support.
