The family of Makiah Coleman

Hi, my name is Amy. Our family is organizing this page in support of my sister-in-law Barb and her children, after the unexpected loss of their beloved 19 year old daughter and sister, Makiah. Makiah lived with asthma her whole life. Due to a health insurance mix-up, she was not able to afford her asthma medication for 2 months. Makiah suffered a serious asthma attack and went into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. After almost a week in the cardiac ICU it was determined that she would not be able to recover and was removed from life support. Makiah was a beautiful and caring young woman, full of love and joy. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Many family and friends have reached out to see how they can help support Barb and Makiah's brother and sister during this difficult time. I am hoping this fundraiser can help with the financial burden of funeral expenses and potential medical expenses, allowing Barb to take the time she needs away from work to focus on grieving and celebrating Makiah. Please consider any level of contribution so that we can bring some love and support as they grieve this inconceivable loss.
