The Family of Mary Smith

On Monday, January 2 Mary suffered a heart attack unexpectedly and has resulted in severe brain damage. Jim and the girls have respected her wishes of not wanting life-sustaining measures done if it meant it would impact her quality of life. Her “surviving” would mean a feeding tube, trach, and defibrillator and it is unknown her ability to move her arms or legs as she wouldn’t respond to those commands.

Those of you who know and love Mary know that is NOT quality life. If she can’t swing a golf club, bake a chocolate cake, snuggle Zayden, kiss Jim, or hug her girls, that’s not living.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help Jim, Melissa, Marra and Mandy, and the one thing looming over their heads is the cost of all the unknowns coming up. So we are starting this GoFundMe to help with funeral & celebration of life costs, food during this time and other living expenses to help ease this time for Jim and the girls.

Mary is currently at Prince of Peace Hospice, and they welcome people to stop by and say goodbye and visit with Jim and Melissa.
