Give to Samantha Maldonado for funeral costs.

Thank you for considering donating to our Go Fund Me. My family and I created this fundraiser to help the family of Sami (Samantha) Maldonado with the unplanned funeral costs her parents are facing, as well as bring awareness to stopping domestic violence. To say this is something that is heart-wrenching and shocking for our family just scratches the surface on what we've been experiencing since learning this news.

Heartbreakingly, Sami was a victim of domestic violence on March 10th while on her way home in Chicago. She was at a CTA station, getting ready to board her train home when her ex-boyfriend who had been following her commenced to argue with her and physically push her around, even not letting her get on the train. She did her best to run away, but, unfortunately, a horrific stabbing occurred. Sami's Mom learned of the dreadful event when she arrived for work the next morning. (New story here)

Sami was and is a truly one-of-a-kind, beautiful soul. To talk with her was like being reminded of what true joy and generosity looks like in a person. She used her brightness and brilliance in being a great student, graduating with honors from a top University in Ecuador, South America. She used her dedication and passion in all she did, from work to family to continued education, and was even taking English Language classes in Chicago to improve her ability to connect with others. Most importantly though, she loved easily and is loved by so many. She constantly looked out for others and was generous at heart, ready to help anyone at a moment's notice.

Her joyful thirst for life is what brought her and her Mom to Chicago, to create and enjoy a better life, and it's something I'm grateful to have known and learned from her. Please consider donating to our fundraiser and sending your love to Sami's parents and loved ones.
