Our Family Needs Support After Dog Mauling

Hi,

My name's Hillary and I'm starting this for my family's cost of living such as groceries, bills, Ubers (our car is stuck in the shop due to no funds) while we establish a new means of income after a vicious dog mauling in our family.

On Monday March 18th 2024, my son was viciously attacked by our neighbor's two pitbulls unprovoked. We rushed out to find Jayce on the ground - bloody, his shirt was completely shredded, and his tricep/bicep was ripped open down to the muscle (See pics). He had numerous bites, scratches, and cuts. He was rushed to the local hospital. His wounds were cleaned and wrapped (cannot stitch due to dog mouth bacteria) and he was put on Amoxicillin.

That night Jayce began spiking fevers of 101.00 +. We assumed it was the shock factor and just made sure to keep the wounds clean and wrapped. By Wednesday, his fever had reached 104.00. Jayce was rushed to the Children's Trauma Center by ambulance almost an hour away. He had contracted a massive infection in his arm and hand that was attacked the worst ( Cellulitis). Jayce was admitted into the hospital and began undergoing many blood tests, IV antibiotics, and other medicines. He spent a week in the hospital on two IV antibiotics, steroids, MRIs, etc. During this time, I had to miss work to stay with my child, and ultimately lost my job as a result.

We also learned from Animal Control these dogs were not vaccinated for Rabies. The owners lied and only surrendered one dog. They surrended the less aggressive dog who has only attacked once. They kept the dog at the shelter for 10 days and then the dog was returned to the neighbors. We have a multitude of witnesses. There has been no justice in this nightmare.

Ultimately, my son still has lots of healing and therapies to endure. He is now afraid of dogs and is afraid to leave his own house because of the "bad dogs" across the street. In addition, the owners have not even asked how our son is doing or how they can help.

His wounds still have another 6-8 weeks of healing. We also have two other special needs children who we have to care for. We are using our last bit of resources up at an exponential rate as a family of five. If you cannot donate- no problem. We understand times are rough for all !
