The Favero family

Me and my wife Leina have had a relationship since 18 years ago. We have been married for 11 years.

We have (now) three beautiful boys. Antonio, Theodoro and our newborn Joaquim.

We have dreamed for a long time to come live in Canada.

We finally got here last year, in January 2022. Suddenly, we found ourselves pregnant, and without RAMQ, which is the government insurance for Quebec. So we had to afford our latest kid`s birth by our own.

My wife gave birth at the Hospital LaSalle, in Montreal, QC in May 1st of 2023. She was released home with our boy May 3rd.

For a week, she was doing fine, and the baby was awesome. by the night of Sunday, 7th to the morning of Monday 8th, she started having fever, belly paint, low pressure. She then attended to Hospital LaSalle, to be evaluated. The examined her, gave her a couple of medicines, and released her the same afternoon.

When she got home, she was already worst, adding to the fever, stronger paint and lower pressure (90 to 50 at that point), also she had high heartbeat, severe diahrea, and exaustion.

Tuesday we decided to wait and see if the medications from LaSalle would help. Clearly didnt, so we headed to Jewish General Hospital, in Montreal, on tuesday late night. They passed her by triage fast-fowarded straight to Intense Care. I spoke to a nurse by phone, and she told me my wife was stable, but it was hard to know what was the problem.

They ran lots of exam, scans, everything they had on hand. About 6 am of Wednesday, she collapsed quickly, and they started reanimation. By the time I got to the hospital (I had to stay home with the 2 other boys), there was a team of over 10 professionals trying to bring her back. They tried everything, mechanical breathing, all the machinary.

She passed.

I was left with a hallow chest, broken hearted, father-mother of 3 boys, including an AUTISTIC child, Antonio 8yo. As I type this, I still do not know how to approach my children and explain their world is gone.

Now I am here in Canada, struggling to keep together while I have to figure out how to bring my family back to Brazil, where we are from.
