BLACQ (Born Leading African-Canadian Queens) is an organization of Black women whose aim is to create opportunities by supporting our community through scholarship funding. Our team’s purpose is to plan events that raise money to fund our initiatives so that we can spotlight aspiring black women making strides in an impactful way. Our mission is to help women who desire to enhance their lives and careers, to fund the development of mentorship programs and to support community-driven initiatives.
Due to the global pandemic, shelters across Canada have been impacted in a great way, receiving 70% fewer donations. Now more than ever, there is a need for all available resources this year to assist with providing meals for individuals and families staying in shelters. This past Thanksgiving, our team was able to provide over 600 meals across the GTA. Our story was broadcasted and there was an outpour of organizations reaching out, expressing their need for any feasible contributions across the country. Because of this, we have decided to extend our initiative by adding a Christmas give back; The Feast: Christmas Edition. The Feast is an outreach initiative curated with intention to lend a hand and take care of communities across Canada; while we encourage communities to stand with us as we support those who help others.
BLACQ has partnered with over 20 African-Canadian female chefs, professionals, and commissary kitchens spread across Canada. Our teams will deliver 10,000+ meals and care packages by Christmas Eve 2020 in the GTA, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Attached you will find images and media collateral of our team's initiative for Thanksgiving 2020. With your donations, our team will be able to do so much more. We will be able to purchase groceries, care package items, food packages, bags, utensils, and much more. With your support, we will be able to take care of our country!
