Help Shandon Mayes create a home
Allow me to introduce you to Coach Shandon Mayes. A remarkable young man who, after years of hard work and commitment to building a better life, is finally moving into his own home in East Nashville on October 1st.
Please join us in celebrating Shandon’s success by purchasing an item for his first home from this Amazon gift list.
The items will be delivered to his dear friends Jill and Phillip White’s residence.
You can also make a cash donation through this GoFundMe page.
Originally from Chattanooga, Shandon moved to Nashville and attended JT Moore Middle School and Hillsboro High School. As a dedicated athlete he was a member of the JT Moore City Championship football team, and a defensive player on the Hillsboro High School team State Championship finalists in 2018.
Shandon put himself through college to earn a Sports Exercise degree from MTSU by working 5:00am-10:00am shifts driving a forklift before attending classes. He is the first member of his immediate family to graduate from college.
With his degree in hand Shandon returned to the middle school he loved and is now JT Moore’s head football coach, girls basketball coach and in school suspension teacher. Shandon is passionate about working with students to better their lives, and is an excellent example that hard work and commitment can result in personal achievement.
The Feathered Nest Project is bringing our community together to help Shandon equip his first home with much needed furniture, home goods, and interior decorating guidance. Please show your support of Shandon with a tax deductible contribution to his future. You can choose from the items he has selected on the Amazon link above, or provide a cash donation through this GoFundMe page.
We thank you for your generous donations!

The Feathered Nest Project is a non-profit that turns empty housing into homes for families in the greater Nashville area transitioning into permanent housing. We create spaces that are more than just four walls and a roof overhead, but a place where people can heal, grow, and thrive.
My name is Erica Sweitzer and I am the Founder & CEO of
The Feathered Nest Project.
For many years I have been a successful entrepreneur and interior decorator, creating home environments that are unique and relevant to each of my clients. While still wanting to pursue my passion for design I also found myself seeking more meaning and purpose, and so The Feathered Nest Project was conceived.
Combining my love of design, the deep fulfillment I experience from providing my clients not just a beautiful house but a true "home", and the desire to serve those in need, I have shifted the direction of my career to philanthropy. The Feathered Nest Project was created to bridge the gap between those with household items they no longer want, and those that have little or nothing with which to embark on a fresh start in life. With those donated items we create homes that capture the spirit and personalities of our clients, enhance their sense of well-being, and help to restore hope and dignity to their lives.
People transitioning into permanent housing typically have little more than the clothes on their back. Though they have secured housing, their journey to rebuild their lives often begins by sleeping on the floor and eating from their laps, as they have nothing with which to furnish that housing. By providing donated furniture, household items, and pro bono professional design assistance, we turn empty housing into homes where families can heal and thrive - new beds for good rest, dining tables to share a meal with loved ones, desks at which to work and study, and comfortable living rooms in which to relax, play, laugh and gather.
Your generous, tax deductible donations will provide funds for new items that families need as well as operational costs, warehouse space for donated furnishing and household items, and moving truck rentals.

Your generous tax deductible donations will not only turn housing into homes but will also minimize the return to homelessness, lower financial burdens on our communities, improve children's ability to learn, and help the environment.
