The Fernando Family in Daluwakotuwa, Sri Lanka

The Fernando family lives in the Town of Daluwakotuwa on the West Coast of Sri Lanka, about one hour north of Colombo. Their home needs urgent repairs, but Chaminda, the father, has not been able to raise the equivalent of ten monthly salaries to finance them.

After having worked in industrial cleaning for 30 years and becoming a supervisor at a garment company, he lost his job due to the coronavirus crisis. His wife suffers from chronic headache, and two of the three children are still in high school.

With connections to local friends, we are helping Chaminda to search for new opportunities amongst larger companies. In the meantime, we are helping to gather money for the repairs.

As gofundme does not pay out campaigns in Sri Lanka, we are collecting the funds and will transfer from Austria.
