PEOPLE Magazine reports on Heidi and Hopie Feek’s fight for sister’s safety.

Many know Rory Feek as a devoted father and husband, but for his older daughters, Hopie and Heidi, the reality has been far different. For years, they were led to believe their mother didn’t want them, only to later discover that this was a lie their father used to keep them apart.

After Indy’s mother, Joey, passed away when Indy was just 2 years old, Hopie and Heidi developed a special maternal bond with their little sister. But in the past year, they were suddenly cut off from her, continuing the same heartbreaking cycle of isolating vulnerable children from their mother figures. Worried for Indy’s safety, they reached out to friends and family, only to uncover deeply unsettling truths about her situation—things no child should ever endure.

Now, Hopie and Heidi are in a legal battle to ensure Indy receives the care and protection she desperately needs. This process is complex, emotionally draining, and incredibly expensive. They wouldn’t be fighting this battle unless it was absolutely necessary to keep Indy safe.
