Help Sharon Reilly Fight Cancer!

Hi Everyone,

Sharon Reilly, the mother of Shane, Kevin, Brian, and Kyle Reilly, has recently been diagnosed with a reoccurrence of aggressive stage 4 cancer. In December 2006, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer by doctors at Johns Hopkins. The doctors gave her a prognosis of 4 months to live and told her to “get comfortable”. Sharon’s great strength and faith compelled her to reject “get comfortable” as a serious answer to that diagnosis. Determined to beat cancer, she underwent intense amounts of chemotherapy and radiation. The rigorous treatment, along with her great faith in Jesus and the loving support from her dear friends and family, miraculously saved her life; however, she had so much radiation that she reached the limit a person can have in their lifetime. Since then, she has been our “walking miracle.” She is now known as “Nanny” to 9 (almost 10) grandchildren and is dearly loved by her 4 sons, 4 daughters-in-law, and her dog Zoey.

This time around, Sharon has limited treatment options due to her extensive radiation exposure. So, she has chosen an alternative treatment plan using vitamin C infusions and injections from the Mistletoe plant, hoping to slow down and treat the progressive form of cancer that has reoccurred. Her doctors have highly recommended an immunotherapy drug called Keytruda in addition to these treatments. This drug helps identify and target cancer cells specifically, invoking an immune response. Although she is very hopeful of these treatments, they are not covered by insurance and do not come at a small price.

Unfortunately, in 2017, we suddenly lost Gerry Reilly, Sharon’s husband, to Pancreatic Cancer. He was diagnosed on December 15, 2016, and passed one month later on January 15, 2017. Gerry’s unexpected death has left Sharon in a tough spot financially. Thankfully the Lord has been faithful to her during this time and He still is.

Sharon and Gerry were heavily involved in the community, their church, and Christian School of York by donating large amounts of money and, more importantly, their time. During the school year they made sure the sports teams were safe and well fed before the games. Their house was always open and welcoming to any kid who needed a place to go. They were some of the most giving people I witnessed growing up, and Sharon continues to give back where she can. It’s painful to see her struggling with her health and now financially while fighting again for her life. Her faith in Jesus is absolutely the greatest testimony and is 100% why she is still here with us today.
