The Fight of Rhiana's Life

Donation protected
Never did I think I'd be writing a GoFundMe about somebody my own age having Cancer. Obviously, I know it happens, but you always assume it's not going to happen to somebody in your life. Unfortunately, someone very dear to me has now been diagnosed with MPNST, occurring on her trigeminal & optic nerves. To put this simply, she has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that sits on her optic nerve and the stem of her brain. The cancer is malignant, and she is terminal.

Unfortunately, this diagnosis has come late. Diagnois has taken two years. Rhiana was originally prescribed steroids to battle what they first thought she had. It appears the steroids have assisted in the growth of the tumour. The doctors in Perth have told her they will be unable to operate due to the rarity of the tumour and the risk factors involved.

She suffers with extreme pain, blurred vision, numbness in her face and is often too unwell to get out of her bed. Throughout the repeated tests and incorrect diagnosis/treatment over the past two years, this tragic news (which would bring most to their knees) has not dulled her ever present sparkle. Rhiana is full of positivity and strength at the start of what truly is the fight of her life. She refuses to give up on life and is instead doing everything within her power to change her fate.

There is a glimmer of hope in the form of a qualified and reputable neurosurgeon in Sydney who has the skill set, ability and confidence to operate on Rhiana's tumour. His name is Dr. Charlie Teo.

Dr Charlie Teo has a highly regarded international reputation in the treatment of adult and paediatric brain tumors, skull base surgery, neuroendoscopy, and functional neurosurgery. He could very well be Rhiana's last and only hope for a cure. Of course this chance and Dr Teo's level of expertise doesn't come without a hefty price tag. Rhiana will need approximately $100K to pay for the surgery and after care. Due to Rhiana's deteriorating health she has been unable to work which leaves her options and monetary needs unable to be met.

I'm starting this GoFundMe campaign in hopes that we can help ease the financial burden of these tough times. Rhiana and her family are determined to pull through the other side of this. I am hopeful that we can raise even the smallest amount of money to help the family.

The funds will be used to pay for the surgery over in Sydney, and will be transferred directly into Rhiana's bank to ensure she has rapid access to the money.

Rhiana loves everyone around her dearly, and puts out positivity to everybody who is touched by her. Hopefully we can pass on our positivity to keep her going through this gruelling fight.

Any messages of support would be GREATLY appreciated. If you can't donate, simply pass on a message here, or via myself or Brie, and we will ensure it is passed on to her as quickly as possible.
