The first ever SO:Fringe Festival!

Hey! We are Becky and Dan and we are fundraising for SO: FRINGE 2024.

SO: FRINGE is a performing arts festival based in the city centre of Southampton, over three days in July.

The festival will showcase the immense local talent the city has grown and the wonderful venues it houses.

We started the journey over a year ago, talking with our 'creative friends' about whether or not they thought the city needed a Fringe festival. We had previously taken a play up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018 and 2019 and couldn't understand why Southampton didn't have a festival. The resounding feedback was YES!

We started conversations with multiple venues throughout the city and their generosity has been incredible. The venues that will be part of the festival are Belgium & Blues, Heartbreakers, Central Library, MAST, Mettricks and The Stage Door.

An artist call out was posted on social media and we had over 60 incredible applications. Proving how necessary a festival of this type was for Southampton. Sadly we were not able to offer performances opportunities to everyone that applied. But we have curated a really exciting programme that we cannot wait to share with city. This includes: Cabaret, Children's Theatre. Comedy, Dance, Live Music, Poetry, Spoken Word and Theatre.

Just as we were about to finalise performers and get the festival on sale, we found out that a large portion of our funding had been declined.

So now we are asking for your help...

SO:FRINGE 2024 will be happening.

But we need your support to make sure that our first year can be something that Southampton is proud of. And that it continues for many more years to come.

Any donations that we receive will help us towards marketing costs, adding even more acts to the programme as well as improving local access to the arts.

We believe that access to the arts is one of the most important things for a city to have. We want to improve this by keeping our ticket prices as affordable as possible. By donating to this event we can offset costs from that donation rather than relying on higher ticket income. In short the higher the total donations the more affordable we can make tickets.
