The Fisk Family NEEDS help NOW!

As many of you know, Ryan and Sarah Fisk have been fighting for their kids health due to mold in their home since JULY! The whole nightmare started with a leak in their downstairs bathroom. The homeowner's insurance company has only been interested putting a band-aid on the problem and not correcting it adequately. The back and forth fighting with the insurance company has not only caused a massive amount of undue stress and worry to Ryan and Sarah, the delay this substandard service has caused their children to suffer and become very ill due to the mold growth during this time. Ryan and Sarah would love for the insurance company to fulfill their responsibilities and hire a, ethical and competent company to do the work correctly and not just the lowest bidder but it seems they are only interested in their own bottom line. The Fisk family will very likely have to pay out of pocket to resolve the moisture and mold issue correctly so the kids (and parents!) don't become worse.  Please consider helping this family financially. Sarah is an amazing mama and friend who is the 1st in line to help others. That's why I talked her into this crowd-sourcing page. Here is the timeline: Wednesday, September 11th will be two months since they filed their claim. They've had 2 mitigation companies come in and do incomplete work as well as add more damage with faulty equipment and equipment leaking. They have been forced to contact the the insurance company virtually daily, are still battling them to correct the issues with no end in sight. After the first mitigation company started ripping out walls and flooring on July 29th several of the kids and Sarah weren't feeling well. A huge hole was made in the floor of the half bath into the crawl space and to this day is still open to their home. The first mitigation company said that there was mold on the joists in the crawlspace. After a few days of having the crawl space opened up exposing it into the home, their son started experiencing a tic like movement in his upper torso.  The highly concerned parents made trip to the ER to find out how to help their son. The doctors ordered blood work, CT scan, and X-rays. Unfortunately, they left the hospital still uncertain of what was going on. A few days later and after more research and seeing another Dr. they learned that mold exposure can cause the sudden onset of tics and seizures. The insurance company still had not scheduled the mold remediation! Sarah was constantly battling back and forth with the insurance company and mitigation company begging them to get the ball rolling and get the MOLD more than anything taken care of. As of August 16th the insurance company still had not gotten the mold remediation done!!! The insurance company asked if they could call in one of their vendors and just pay the other company for what they had done. Ryan and Sarah agreed to do this hoping this company would be competent and preform the services and work they were hired to do. On August 16th Ryan, Sarah, and their 5 kids moved to a hotel for 13 days. During this time a second mitigation company came in and ripped out more sheet rock, flooring, door frames, etc... they were also hired to complete the mold remediation. Through all of the research Sarah has done on mold and the correct way to do remediation for the mold to be contained and not spread she's learned a lot. When someone is possibly having a reaction to mold it's absolutely crucial that it's done correctly or it will exacerbate the illness. After receiving the mitigation companies pictures from the insurance company of the work that had been done in the crawlspace Sarah was livid. Where there is now a "containment" in the crawlspace it was not there when the pictures of the crawlspace joists were cleaned. This means the area was not properly contained before removing the insulation and cleaning the joists. They were told the home was dry and the mold remediation was done and they could move back into the home on Wednesday, August 28th. In the process of all of this Sarah has bought a moisture meter and learned how to detect the readings. Sarah talked with the insurance company on August 29th and told them there were still numerous places reading higher on the moisture meter. The second mitigation company told her that anything above 18% is considered wet. Most of the readings she is still getting to this day are between 28-53%. On top of this, they are still getting very musty moldy smells in the home from the crawlspace and there is still visible mold on the joists in the crawlspace. At this time it seems that they are being left to pay for it to get done the correct way. They hope to raise enough money to cover another hotel stay and to get out of the home until the home is safe for the kids. They have had several friends approach them about a gofund me for those that want to help but they are the type of people who don't really like to ask for help. They are finally giving in and asking for help. They can't do this alone and need our help badly. Just their 13 day stay in the hotel was $4,000.00 that the insurance company had to pay. Ryan works full time as a manager and the kids after homeschooling for three years have started at a local charter school. Sarah had planned to start working more after the kids went back to school but unfortunately has been left to deal with this which has become a full-time job in itself between meeting with mitigation companies, insurance, Dr's appointments for their son, and researching mold. Unfortunately, the Dr that specializes in the mold toxicity that is seeing their son is out of network with their insurance company. Therefore all tests and appointments are and will be out of pocket upfront. Thursday this past week Sarah paid to have the ERMI (Environmental Relative Moldiness Index) done and is awaiting results for that. It will tell us how high the mold levels are in their home and it tests for 36 different species. They hope to have those results back on 9/10 as they paid for it to be rushed in the lab. Sarah has also been researching an air system that will destroy mold, bacteria, and contaminants on a molecular level. The price depends on the size of your home and if there is any active leaks or moisture in your home at the time. After talking with someone from the company in order to get this system for their home it would be $6,000.00. The Dr. their son is seeing that specializes in the mold toxicity has also suggested they meet with an environmental specialist that will come into the home to asses the situation. As it stands right now the insurance company wants them to start repairs and replace some of the sub-floors next to the studs that are still wet along with the mold remediation that hasn't been completed as it should've been. Mold grows within 24-48 hours of something being wet. This means that in reality there is still moisture and mold is still growing. It can not be repaired until things are dry and things are done right. They have been completely open about everything and have documented to this day over 1000 pictures and videos from day one.  Thank you for taking the time to read about this sweet family who needs your help.
