The Flanigan Family

Hi, my name is Emma and I’m raising money for my Mom and Step-Dad to keep their home. They are going to be evicted from their apartment if they don’t pay the balance owed by Monday, April 24, 2023.

This is very important to me because my Mom was a single Mom and raised me completely on her own until I was 15 years old when she met Mike. I always had everything I needed and I even got everything on my Christmas list every year and looking back, I honestly don’t know how she did it but she did. She did without all of my childhood so that I could have what I needed and most of what I wanted. She is one of the most selfless people I know.

Her and Mike have been struggling to financially catch up since Pandemic. Two months ago, they spent $4000 to catch up on all of their bills only for Mike to lose his job the following day. Regardless of what you may think, it’s not easy to find a job. Two months went by with him applying to every job opening that he was qualified and even overqualified for and a few weeks ago he finally got a job that he is really enjoying. Unfortunately, bills didn’t stop for those two months so they are back to where they are two months ago. We really don’t have family that can help, Mike’s parents died years ago and my grandparents are on a fixed income and although I wish I could help them and give to them just as much as she has done for me my entire life, I just don’t make enough money. The flip side to this is that they also have nowhere to go if they lose their apartment and with an eviction on their record after this, they definitely won’t be able to rent anything again. They found an extended stay hotel as a “just in case” option but if they move there, they will be there for a very long time because $385/week will leave them with no money to save. They both work full time and are both in college full time to better themselves. I’m asking for donations so they can keep their apartment, get back on their feet, and not have to take time off from school, just as they worked so hard to do two months ago.
If enough money is raised in the short amount of time they have, the funds will be used to pay their rent arrears along with late fees and court costs. If there isn’t enough money raised to stop eviction proceedings, the funds will be used for moving expenses, a storage facility and to get them into the extended stay hotel. Please, no matter the amount, every little bit helps and will be greatly appreciated.
