The flood victims of Knott County, Kentucky

My name is Jordan Combs. I grew up and lived in Knott County for 25 years - a place full of culture, talent, and the most genuine people you'd ever meet.

On late Wednesday night, July 27th, and in the morning hours of Thursday, July 28th, Knott and other surrounding counties were hit with flood waters leading to the worst flooding Eastern Kentucky has ever seen in generations. Families, businesses and communities were caught off guard by the rising water, and many have lost loved ones, homes, and everything. In a rush after hearing nothing from my own family - I arrived in Knott County at my parent's home to see the destruction for myself. With my eyes, I witnessed rescue teams desperately searching for lost children and the devastation of those still unaccounted for. Bare necessities such as food and water are scarce. In many parts, electricity and communication services are still down, and people are still unaccounted for. Many areas/communities are still unreachable by vehicle, foot or ATV, and only rescue helicopters can reach those stranded.

In partnership with Knott County School Systems, where my sister is a teacher, and my own brother-in-law, a Kentucky State Trooper, my mission is to raise enough funds to purchase essential items and drive them down to a legitimate resource area where the supplies will be distributed to those in most need.
