The Fontana Twins

9/23/24
Sadly, Charlie lost his long and courageous battle with cancer in the early morning hours of Sunday 9/22/24 surrounded by so much love and support of his family and friends. He fought so hard and so long to beat this evil disease. He was the bravest, strongest warrior we knew. We will all miss his loud voice and sarcastic humor. To know him was to love him.
Just as the Wu-tang is forever, Charlie’s memory will live on forever.

For those of you who are attending his wake on Wednesday, we ask that you consider dressing in a sports jersey, uniform or silly t-shirt. (Optional, of course). As we all know, Charlie was very casual with his attire and disliked “dressing up”

Charles Fontana, 49, of Belford, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family and friends on September 22, 2024. He was born in Staten Island, NY and moved to Belford in 2008. Charles worked as an Electrician for Local 3 in NYC. He was an avid sports fan most notably the Miami Dolphins and NY Yankees. He loved Fantasy Football, Legos, food, his boys, sports collectibles, his cats and Funko Pops. Charles was a dedicated BYAA Soccer Coach and loved spending time on the field with the kids. He was the loudest on the field and was passionate about the sport. He loved the beach, tanning, traveling and the sun. He loved spending time outside watching his favorite shows and sports. All throughout his illness he fought long and hard and never gave up. He was a warrior and our superhero until his last breath. He will be sorely missed.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Jennifer (nee Siler) Fontana, twin sons, Justin and Dylan Fontana; parents, Frank and Patti Fontana, mother, Jean Fontana, sister, Samantha (Ian) Ginsberg; brother, Frank (Ashley) Fontana; sisters-in-law, Jackie Itri, Rebecca (Todd) DeGaray; close cousins, Jacqueline and Brian Lobello, Phil “Ike”Eichinger, Dina and Bill Nagy; his best, best friend, Steve Dennehy and many close friends, including their "Framily". Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 4-8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 10:00 am at Mary Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd., Middletown.

Arrangements are under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Update: 11/12/23

I believe in the power of prayers.
 Miracles do happen.

2 weeks ago today Charlie came home from the hospital on hospice. He chose this due to the excruciating pain he was in. Our family was mourning him. I mourned for my husband, His parents mourned for their son, our siblings mourned for their brother, our nieces and nephews cried for their uncle, our friends cried for their buddy. My boys cried for their Dad. We were surrounded by so much love and support from our family, framily, friends and neighbors. We felt the love but that wasn’t enough. Divine timing Monday afternoon 3:00, the priest was walking into our home to give last rites. The phone rings and our prayers were answered. There was hope for Charlie to live longer. We all witnessed a miracle unfold right before our eyes, within days Charlie was coming back to life. The unthinkable was happening, he was able to move without pain. He was back! It’s been one hell of a few months but Charlie is getting stronger and stronger everyday. He has a long road ahead of him but he’s on the right track. We ask for the continued prayers & healing for Charlie. I am still in disbelief how this all came about. we have so many to thank for all the support, hugs, prayers, & endless love.
 I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!
 Thanks be to God!
 Amen.

A million thank yous aren’t enough.

My whole family and I would love to personally thank each and every one of you if we could. These have been the hardest days but friends & family like you make things easier. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! Continue the prayers as Charlie is still battling this horrible, painful disease. He is our brave, fierce warrior.
Much love,
Jenn, Charlie, Justin and Dylan❤️

Dear friends, family, and compassionate
individuals,

We come together today to extend our heartfelt support for the Fontana family. Charlie who we all know and love so much is battling Stage Four lung and bone cancer. As the Fontana family navigates the complexities of this devastating illness, we have the opportunity to make a significant difference in their lives.

For anyone who does not know Charlie, let us tell you a little about him. First and foremost he is an amazing Dad to twin 11 year old boys Justin and Dylan and a very loving husband to his equally amazing and selfless wife Jenn. He is an incredible son, brother and uncle. He is a faithful friend to all! He has also been a top notch soccer coach to so many of Justin and Dylan’s friends over the last 4 1/2 years. So many of these kids think of Charlie as a second dad. Charlie and Jenn would do anything for their family and friends and have so many times before. Now is the time to return the favor and help them!
