Dance Scholarships for underserved youth

Hi there!

My name is Zuri Foreman and I am the owner/CEO of The Foreman Arts School. My mission is to colorize the arts by providing professional arts training and mentorship to the community. My goal is to provide free and reduced price tuition to underprivileged children, especially children of color. I am dedicated to serving the underserved and I feel that all children should have access to the arts regardless of their economic status.

My mission began at 17 years old, my senior year of high school. I attended Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, MD. In my senior year, I was required to complete a senior service project. I choose to give back with the gift of dance, and taught dance to homeless children and children from low income families. I'll never forget the look on the kids faces during dance class. They were stunned that someone dedicated time to specifically teach them an art form. They unfortunately had never been exposed to anything of that nature and were truly grateful. The look on their faces was priceless. From that day forward, I knew that I needed to make it my mission to give back to underprivileged kids through the arts. 12 years later , The Foreman Arts School was born!

My goal for this year, is to provide costumes for all kids to be able to participate in our recital. Last year we coudn't afford to get costumes for everyone and I want this year to be different. We are also raising money for dance scholarships. Each scholarship will cover full tuition, uniforms, dance shoes, props, and safety materials to ensure each child has a safe and successful class. If you find it in your heart to donate, myself and students would truly appreciate it. Let's change the narrative and make the arts accessible to everyone.
