The Frederick Family Needs Our Help!
Donation protected
Josh and Jamie Frederick are incredible people who have given hundreds of hours of their time and energy over the past decade to support events that benefit sick children in both Hampton Roads and Richmond, VA. It's our turn to help them in this grave time of need.
Josh and Jamie's sweet 12-year-old boy Brayden is no stranger to headaches; they are commonplace for this darling young man. A follow-up was previously set with a neurologist to address this struggle; the first available appointment was this August 2023. On Tuesday, May 30th, his headache returned with a vengeance, and Tylenol wouldn't knock it out as it usually would. The concerned parents brought their little man to urgent care, who immediately sent them to CHKD. Because Mama Jamie suffers from terrible migraines, they thought he was following in his mother's footsteps, and they would need to get him on migraine medication.
When the first scan returned, Josh and Jaime learned that this was not a migraine but a tumor. Brayden was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, a rare, benign tumor near the pituitary gland. Although it is hugely positive this tumor is benign, it will still require massive surgery. CHKD, always wanting the best for their patients, knows Johns Hopkins is more equipped, so they leave for Maryland on Monday. Brayden will be admitted and meet with countless specialists, and prepare for brain surgery the following week.
The coming months will be filled with scary things for Brayden, Josh, and Jamie. The family has no idea when they will be home or when any sense of normalcy will grace their family again. Every medical hurdle, small or substantial such as this, is a massive financial burden on a family. Let's help them have a cushion to rely on as their travels, time off work, hotel stays until there is room at The Ronald McDonald House, food, gas, covering regular bills, etc., will add up so incredibly fast.
Let's help them stay afloat and take some of the financial burdens off their plate, so they can focus on what really matters: getting Brayden through surgery, home, healthy, and thriving again.
