The Freedom Harvest Project
Freedom Harvest is a project that seeks to grow food resilience within communities impacted by the criminal carceral system. An offshoot of Sanctuary Produce Farm's Food Justice CSA program, this project will connect 30 families with free, weekly fresh shares of produce on behalf of their incarcerated loved ones.
We have teamed up with the Insight Alliance, a Portland-based non-profit that works to grow resilience with people in prison and on parole, to begin offering sign-ups to folks they work with at Columbia River Correctional Institution.
We will continue to feed our communities for the remainder of our growing season, and have already begun to plan a full year of Freedom Harvest programming to begin in Spring of 2022.
This community fundraiser will cover the cost of:
- All produce distributed to families and individuals, as well as cost of transportation.
- Equitable wages for farm staff as well as project organizers.
- Seed funding for next year's programming.
At the heart, this project exists to bring us back into relationship with the earth, with the plants, the bees, the sun, the flowers, regardless of where we find ourselves. It exists to share food, good food, with our communities. It exists because we know that so much can grow from a single seed.

About The Insight Alliance:
The Insight Alliance is a non-profit focused on transforming the lives of adults and youth in prison and on parole by pointing them to their innate resilience and wellbeing.
