Welcome to the Friends of Bloomsbury Square!

We're a dedicated group of volunteers – made up of local residents, businesses, and students – united by our passion for preserving and enhancing the beauty and vitality of Bloomsbury Square Gardens. This historic square, one of London's oldest, sits in the heart of Bloomsbury, with the British Museum and other renowned institutions just moments away. More than just a green space, the square is a vital community hub, and we're committed to ensuring it thrives for everyone.

Crucially, the Friends of Bloomsbury Square receives no formal funding and relies entirely on the generosity of donations from our community.

Our work is driven by a simple mission: to improve the planting and biodiversity of the gardens, creating a richer, more vibrant environment for all. As you'll see on our website (www.friendsofbloomsburysquare.com) and on our Instagram @friendsofbloomsburysquare, we achieve this through hands-on gardening, fundraising for essential plants and equipment, and collaborative efforts with Camden Council and other public bodies.

Last year, we made significant strides by planting 3,500 bulbs, introducing many new plants, tidying beds, planting perimeter bushes to fill gaps, and preparing the garden for this year's ambitious plan.

This year, we're focusing on a new planting scheme for 2025/2026, designed by the talented landscape gardener, Rovena Postol. This plan will dramatically boost biodiversity, encourage pollination, and provide year-round visual interest and structure to the gardens. To bring this vision to life, we need your help to raise £1,000. These funds will cover the cost of diverse plants, essential gardening materials, and vital protective measures to ensure our new plantings flourish.
