The funeral of Father Ian Wright SSC

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for being a part of Fr Ian's life. He passed away in his sleep at the young age of 58 on Sunday 29th October 2023 at 10.15pm. His death has come as a surprise to all those that he knew and in this time of grievance, we pray that his soul may rest in peace.

In his early life, Father Ian trained and worked as a chef in France, before following his childhood dream to work in the aviation industry. Throughout the course of the next 13 years, he would travel the globe getting to know a diverse mix of people across and from different cultures and backgrounds. When God called Father Ian to serve the church, he began his training at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield, before spending the last 24 years of his life as a servant to God.

Throughout his life, Father Ian's pastoral care meant so much to the people that he ministered to; he genuinely cared for the people around him, he devoted his life to his family, the church and the community forming lifelong friendships along the way.

As his family, we recognise that Father Ian touched the hearts of so many people. His life was multifaceted, his influence reached far and wide and his actions brought about positive change stretching beyond the communities that he served.

The funeral will take place over the coming few weeks of the month of November 2023 at the Parish Church of St Augustine of Hippo, Grimsby, after which he will be buried near his parents John and Ann Wright in the cemetery of the Church of Saint Peter & Saint Paul, Healing.

As his family, we don't want to ask for anything, however many of Father Ian's friends have come forward asking if there is any way that they can help or contribute at this difficult time. As such, any donations would be put towards his funeral and burial costs and any surplus donations would be passed on to a cause that he felt very passionate about.

Thank you for keeping Father Ian and his family in your prayers at this time.
