The Future of Joshua Burrows

Hello, my name is Joshua Burrows. I am from Nassau Bahamas and I am currently a student-athlete at Wilbur Wright College located in Chicago, IL. Ever since I was a little boy, I have been chasing my dreams to go to college. Knowing that my future would be limited in the Bahamas, I decided that I wanted to study abroad. Growing up in the Bahamas I knew that basketball was my only way. I worked day in and day out to become one of the top players of my graduating class. Receiving numerous awards like a bronze medal at the Centrobasket tournament to qualify for Tournament of Americas. As well as multiple high school championships such as, GSSA championships, BAISS championship and National championship along with multiple MVP and other tournament awards. While achieving these goals I never forgot about classroom. I also got a number of academic awards like, Mathematics awards, Electrical Instillation awards and also several honor rolls list (GPA of a 3.0 or above) awards. After I graduated, I got an offer to play a preparatory school where I was able to obtain a scholarship to attend and play at the Junior College level. It was not an easy road, but coach Carlos Thomas offered me a chance to be a part of the Wright College family. I remembered thinking to myself everything is finally paying off, all the sacrifices my parents made are not in vain; but God had other plans. While working out trying to prepare myself as best as I could for the upcoming season, I completely severed my ACL which cause minor damage to my meniscus. These are two of the three most important ligament and cartilage in the knee, causing my knee to be unstable. While I am still able to walk, my knee is limited to slow careful movements; any quick or sharp maneuvers could cause further damage to my meniscus and/or other ligaments in my knee. Unfortunately, again being from a less fortunate country I did not have insurance at the time of the injury. Thus, forcing me to pay out of pocket, which again my family is unable to afford. This is why I started this campaign, to aid my family and I as we try our best to raise enough funds so that we would be able to afford an Allograph surgery. Fortunately, I was able to get in contact with an orthopedic hospital known as Cedar Orthopedic Surgery Centre located in Cedar City, Utah. They offer the lowest prices for this type of surgery and have great success rates. This will not only help my day-to-day life tremendously, but it will also give me the opportunity to fight and continue to chase my dreams both academically and athletically. You will find a link to their website my medial report and a quote of the surgery attached at the bottom of this message. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
