The future of Kirkton Community Centre

We are the Kirkton Community Centre Local Management Group SCIO. We have recently been advised by Dundee City Council that they will close our Community Centre in order to save money. ..not because the centre isnt used because its busy every day ..They plan to relocate several of our services and activities into local community schools. We are supportive of this community hub model they are suggesting and it will benefit the community to be able to access these more modern facilities. However we do not agree with the closure of the community centre as there are many projects that cannot fit into the hub model or within schools.

We are keen to keep the current building running, until such time as we have the finance and resources to build a new centre which will house these projects and many more .

We need to keep the community spirit of Kirkton going and if we don’t have a community centre then the heart of our community will be removed.

Anything we raise will be put straight into the development of our new community facility and to keep the Kirkton community spirit alive..
