Support the Gaastra Family

Our parents, Freddie and Ericka Gaastra, have called Maui and the Westside community home for nearly 30 years. We're heartbroken to write that they've lost their home in the recent Lahaina fire along with so many more people. It is difficult to know what to say other than our hometown has been decimated by this fire.

The elementary school we learned to read in, the historic harbor and restaurants we worked our first jobs at, and the place our parents call home are all gone. Their neighborhood was only recently added alongside Lahainaluna Road and it was a thriving subdivision of our community where so many families called home.

Along with the rest of the world, we're still assessing and coming to terms with the extent of the damage caused, but from the aerial photos, it seems likely that everything may have been lost. We trust that Lahaina will rebuild, but right now we are hurting.

In this absolutely unprecedented moment, we are asking for your support. Anything you can offer would mean the world to us. Your contributions will be used to secure temporary housing for our parents, provide essential clothing and supplies, and help us lay the foundation for rebuilding our cherished home and livelihood.
