The Gaden Shartse Monastery Hospital Acquire X-Ray

Dear supporters, my name is Liana Mackay, together with my friends, we are fundraising for The Gaden Shartse Monastery Hospital in Mundgod, Karnataka State, India, to acquire a Chest X-Ray machine and computers. Our journey began with a public audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at H.H. Residence, Dharamsala, HP, India on January 31, 2024.

Occasion:

The occasion marks the public blessing of our charity project aimed at supporting The Gaden Shartse Monastery's humanitarian health initiatives. During our visit, we had the privilege to explore the monastery's hospital and engage with senior staff to understand their operations and identify areas for support. It became evident that urgent modernization and development are needed in the medical facilities. Our goal is to enhance the quality of medical services, diagnostic treatment, and provide essential supplies and technology, including the Chest X-Ray machine. Currently, the essential medical equipment such as X-ray and ultrasound machines are unavailable. Here is what the staff members of Gashar Healing Centre said: “We are very thankful for your interest in helping our clinic grow into a resourceful establishment for our monks. With the growing populations of both monks and lay people within our community we find ourselves with the shortage of certain necessity equipment in our clinic which is crucial to help ease the diagnostic procedure which may ultimately help save people lives. Upon thorough conversation with our Great Abbot and the Head of each department of Gaden Shartse Monastery, we believe the Chest X-Ray Machine is the most necessary equipment in any hospital. The lack of it has cause us many difficulties in the past. We have come across many cases which were left untreated due to the unavailability of the X-ray machine in any of the hospitals nearby. Will be forever grateful to all the sponsors and donors for any assistance offered to help us procure the above mention equipment which will proportionally help us save many lives”.

Our project was born out of these pressing needs. Moving forward, we are committed to working closely with the monastery, organizing various events with active participation from the monks. They extend a warm invitation for supporters to visit the monastery as their guests.
