The Gambs Adopt An Embryo

Donation protected
If you have had the opportunity to read Madi's blog then you now know-- Madi and I are not able to have children, due to a condition called PCOS. The fascinating part about this condition is that effects the growth of a woman's eggs and her ability to conceive naturally, but DOES NOT necessarily effect a woman's ability to carry an embryo to term.

As Madi explained, we have spent the last four years praying and crying out to the Lord. We have gone to infertility clinics, we have done research on foster care and adoption, but at every corner we didn't have peace about the options that were presented to us... until now.

Recently, I discovered that when a couple chooses to pursue IVF (in vitro fertilization) they have to pull 8 to 14 eggs. The couple then chooses how many they want to fertilize (In same cases choosing only to fertilize 3 and in others the whole batch) They then use two or three of them and if the couple conceives right away, they are left with "extra" embryos. The left overs are then either frozen indefinitely or thawed out to die.

As a Christian our conviction falls in line with Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”

Meaning that an embryo, according to the Bible, is a life. Therefore by thawing them out, families are destroying that life.

This brings me to my point, there are several non-profit ministries that facilitate what is called Embryo Adoption. This is the process by which couples who have pursued a family via IVF donate their left over embryos to couples like Madi and I, in order that we would be able to carry a child "naturally" and experience pregnancy to its fullest, though neither of our genetics will be involved.

Madi and I have been praying about this option and we believe that the Lord is calling us to take steps of faith in this direction because...

1. Embryo Adoption Saves Lives
2. Embryo Adoption Allows Us To Have Children
3. Embryo Adoption Allows Us To Experience Pregnancy
4. Embryo Adoption Is Cheaper Than Domestic/Foreign Adoptions
5. Embryo Adoption Is Cheaper Than IVF

Please prayerfully consider supporting us in this way. The money will go to every step of the process from home studies to fertility clinics...etc...
