The Genuine Snake Oil Band Stage Production

The Portland based musical project of multi-instrumentalist Juliet Terrill.

Juliet has been working on this show for over 12 years now, pouring in her heart and soul to tell this story.

The story is about the queer community, and the places in which we connect.

While these gathering places are fantastic for meeting others, bonding, and learning from our queer elders, they also have shades of sadness built into them.

Coping with queer life in a heteronormative world can be rough, but these oases of community can be world changing. The lack of safe gathering places though, can lead to some less than ideal copping mechanisms. Bars are amazing places to connect with those around you, but when they are your only place to be with people like you… The well may not have water in it but at least it’s never dry.

Sadly, a lot of queer stories right now are some flavor of tragedy porn. While this story may not have a happy ending, it’s at least hopeful and full of life.

We hope to transform this story into a stage production and we are asking you, our community, to help us with that. No one working on this is trying to get rich, we are just wanting to create an amazing experience for others while also being able to eat.

Donations go towards theatre rentals, props, paying our performers and crew, and keeping ticket costs as low as possible.
