The girls take on Snowdon
Donation protected
On the 5th January 2023, our lives changed forever. One of our beautiful friends, Mia Basford, suddenly lost her life to meningitis, on her 20th birthday.
Us girls have been friends since we started working together as housekeepers at the fishermans huts in Whitstable. These days hold some of the fondest memories for us- endless laughter, fighting over who got to go on which station, who was going to get the bottle of wine that was left and who was going to get the last chocolate biscuit or apple juice when we went on break. Mia always decided to bring in some weird food combinations to try out- such as hobnobs and vinegar. Or she would come in with some random (but hilarious) story from the weekend- like the time she told us she went to change her gearstick on one of her driving lessons and accidentally grabbed the instructors leg!
After work, we would go home, get changed and go back into Whitstable- usually to the wall- and get some sort of drink. We would stay here for hours, on many evenings, and laugh and chat and enjoy ourselves. This is where we really came together as a group, and built a really strong friendship between us all.
Mia was a ray of sunshine in our lives and we are heartbroken she is no longer with us.
We have decided to climb Snowdon in memory of her. If she knew we were climbing a mountain, she would do one thing- Laugh. and laugh. and laugh. Which is why we are doing it, because anyone who knew Mia will know about her contagious laugh!
All donation money we will give to the Meningitis Now charity and The Kings Hospital Charity.
Please donate no matter how big or small, these charities really do change lives <3
P.S wish us luck climbing the mountain… we are gonna need it!!
