The Godwin Twins

Friends and Family,

I am asking everyone to read and donate what they can to my cousin and his beautiful twin babies, born on 24 January 2020. Reese and Walker were born premature at 30 weeks. Combined, their weight is less than 6 pounds. They both have a very long road to full recovery. I cannot imagine the stress and absolute terror this family is dealing with. Below is a little background on the current status and a few photos of the day the twins arrived here.

Reese (Little girl) was born with a heart defect that will require up to four surgeries to correct, once she doubles her weight the doctors will consider the first surgery. She is a strong little girl but has a fight ahead of her that most will not experience in a lifetime.

Walker (Little boy) was born with his knees dislocated and will have to see an ortho doc so he can live a normal life full of running and playing. He will also have to double in weight to receive treatment. The little guy will unfortunately experience great pain until corrected, a pain that most of us cannot imagine.

Over the next few months, AJ and his Wife will be traveling to and from Pensacola, Fl to Birmingham to be with their children. These babies need all the prayers, love and comfort they can possibly receive. Unfortunately, the cost of being with their children is very costly. AJ will somehow have to juggle being with his first-born children and maintaining a household in Florida. With the travel, hotels, food and loss of income, this young family will struggle to make ends meet. I know not everyone can donate and that is fine, prayers are needed and free of charge. However, for those of you that can, any monetary support would be an absolute blessing. Please share with everyone you know that could potentially help. We will strive to keep everyone updated with their status and keep pictures coming in as they grow and become stronger through the coming months.

As far as AJ, he is probably going to kill me for asking for help. I asked permission to post about the twins and share some photos, but I thought I would take it a step further and have his friends and family show their family support. AJ is a very proud and strong US Army Veteran that will try and take the world on alone. He will carry on his shoulders the physical, mental and financial stress that this situation brings to his doorstep. I know AJ and can tell you regardless of the situation, he will never ask for help or recognition in triumphs or tragedies in his life. I cannot stand by and watch my family struggle trying to take on such responsibility. Let us show him and these beautiful babies love. Thank you all.
