The Goehring Family Benefit

If you’ve had the pleasure of knowing the Goehring family, you’ve probably been involved in a friendly game of cards, received a sincere hug, had a helping hand or participated in some playful banter. And if you’re really fortunate to be close to Leland, you have a uniquely crafted nickname tailored to you.

Lori and Leland have suffered a horrible tragedy on the loss of their home and all of their belongings due to an explosion from a gas leak. Despite this awful event, that is the least of their worries; Lori and Leland had the biggest loss of all and that is the loss of a child.

Ben Goehring was a completely genuine person who embodied so many great characteristics, it truly made him authentic. Whether Ben lent a sympathetic ear or you were rolling out of your chair because of his remarkable wit, you always left a better person from just being surrounded by his light. Ben recently graduated from Augustana College and was finishing up some additional certifications so that he could start his life and his career. Ben unfortunately lost his life at the age of 22 after he was ejected from the home when the house exploded. Lori and Leland were also ejected from their home and are currently in critical care trying to recover from their injuries.

Nothing will ever fill the void in Lori and Leland’s hearts after losing a child, but they are so lucky to have their daughter, Hannah, to help aid in their recovery. Overall, Lori and Leland are incredibly lucky to be here today and have had overwhelming support from family, friends and the community. People have been very kind with tending to their farming operation, taking care of personal matters and bringing food in this difficult time.

What we are asking for now is support for Lori and Leland to start over and to give Ben the proper goodbye.
