The Good Life Comes to Seal!

Donation protected
During the holidays, here at Seal Primary school, we were due to start the pilot stage of our farm project for the children, (introducting 9 rescue chickens and two colonies of bees*) but lockdown has meant this now will have to be delayed. We are now in a position where we need to plan for the childrens return and how we will support their wellbeing and education and this is just one of the innovative ways we intend to do this.  This farm project will include animals such as: sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits and quail. See our facebook page for updates: https://www.facebook.com/The-Good-Life-Comes-To-Seal-104650921033535/  Here at Seal Primary school, we have a real focus on outdoor learning that is great for a rounded education as well as being fantastic for childrens wellbeing. Because of C-19, children have faced the biggest upheaval socially, emotionally and educationally they will probably ever face. All the way through planning this project we have thought about how the children can benefit holistically from this wonderful resource.  It wont just be curricular, but they will be hands on, in beesuits, mucking out, collecting eggs, perfoming health checks. We have already established a volunteer team to care for these animals during the school holidays, (but will welcome more when more animals arrive!) Once established we want to open this wonderful facility up to local schools (term time,) and local community groups and general public during the holidays. We believe by bringing this project forward it will provide the glorious coming together that we are all aching for.  That thing to look forward to that has been missing for months now, that special connection between humans and animals, that for many people is impossible human to human. I am busy applying for lots of grants, knowing there are many worthy causes out there and we may not win any of them! Our total required is £25,000-30,000.  We want to create a sustainable, suitable for all facility thats going to be high quality for animals and humans alike.  We want to make a start so that things are taking shape by September 2020. This comprises of: major landscaping, pathways installed, several types of fencing installed, suitable enclosures and housing for the animals, handwashing station, cctv, security lighting, locks, gates, benches, equipment, initial food and bedding, signage, cleaning materials, planting and buying the animals, amongst many other things. I am of course hoping that a generous funder will agree to our application and fund this project, but in the meantime, any contribution towards the bulk of this initial work from our community, would be so appreciated! Then you can come and visit and see what your money was spent on! I appreciate this is areally tough time for many people, so if your not in a position to donation, do us a free thing and share with as many people as you can.   Thank you! Team Seal *The first part of the project was generously funded by Tesco bags for help, Onestop carriers for causes and the Wax Chandlers.
